Does anyone else find this interview disturbing?

Nathan is a well-known libertarian who has made a career out of defending men's sexuality from what she sees as prurient, moralizing forces. But this interview goes pretty far, even for her.

For example, she appears to question the prevalence and harms of child pornography as well as the age of consent in relation to child pornography, and she describes the manufacture of images to look like child pornography as "art".

She demands the right to view child pornography and claims that we can't trust the government to tell the truth about child porn (but we can trust her, apparently).

She has no background or training in mental health or child protection but she claims that she can accurately critique the forensic validity of child protection interviews "as a woman and a mom".

It would have been useful if the interviewer had questioned her on some of these quite strange claims, instead of just enthusiastically agreeing with everything she said.

this is a very important interview - one of the few people who dare look at the laws surrounding child porn more objectively. Indeed: "a dose of sanity amidst all this hysteria"

Susie, I understand why you hesitated before publishing this interview; you risk a whole lot of grief from the people you expose. But exposing "moral panics" is something that badly needs to be done. So I applaud you for doing this interview and making it public.

Thank you for this article, Susie. I am adding your name to my growing list of sensible journalists, which for some reason is comprised only of women. Is there a message there, perhaps? There needs to be much more attention given to the growing number of kids who are finding themselves on sex offenders registers for life. A bit of "playing doctor' can destroy a kid's prospects for the rest of his/her life. Perhaps you may want to look into this. There are kids as young as 10 on the SOR's complete with all the details of their address etc. Push it into the mainstream press, please.

Another item overlooked; why is the USA the only country in the world with a functioning system of government not to have ratified the 1989 Charter on the Rights of the Child (CRC)? Ratification of this Charter would immediately prevent such injustices as kids being charged and tried as adults, being placed on SOR's and having childhood crimes follow them forever into adulthood.

Then there is the other, much more common forms of child abuse that never get mentioned. Physical abuse, emotional abuse and neglect, almost always perpetrated on the child by his/her own parents. The Rind Report has some very interesting things to say on that subject. Look it up.

Keep up the good work

I there are a lot to think about in this interview. All our stupid polititians should study it
My article was published on ifeminists.net by Fox news journalist Wendy McElroy. I just tryed to figure out how wild is Internet porn panic. i may be not right with numbers, but this is alarming thing.

http://www.ifeminists.net/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.185

Very soon we will have too many internet sex offenders, it is going out of any control. Internet porn panic is growing. This is not so easy to expose it, like it was
in day care case. Millions of people will fall victims in the future, because of this pointless war against internet users
