Interesting how large brands natural alert the suspicions of the consumers and the blogosphere in general. Is Google losing trust with consumers? I have blogged your post over at http://www.youth-marketing-buzz.com/2008/10/buzz-words-trust.html

Cool article, thanks.

How soon they forget that Customer Service and Customers are their--$$customers$$!

Macys replaced Gimbals, Walmart replaced KMart, Lowes is replacing Home Depot, and on and on; and The Beatles replaced Elvis (okay a bit far on that one, but certainly in my mind they did ;)

Waiting for *next* who really shows it by creating what the consumer says they want, not what corporations tell them they want.

i hate the left tab column but other faults that really detract from the igoogle page

1) +/- expand/contract was sweet. i can see the articles i want to. the crappy 2 line summary makes my page length even smaller. now, if i want to read a full article, i have to go to the site.

2) gmail app is terrible. why would you roll this out. when you hide the preview, you are no longer able to see if you have any new emails. also, currently, you can;t click links in your gmail in canvas view so you have to go to the full version of gmail anyway.

3) canvas view - if you switch an app into canvas view, leave igoogle and then come back later, that same widget canvas view is what you see, not your original homepage.

meh, i'm using the uk version for now but i've got to transition to something else if they plan on switching all of them.

T Collins:

You have *several* choices. Two of them -the Greasemonkey script and the FireFox addon - were mentioned in the article that you just read.
This is still a good time to be involved in computing. You can still control what happens to *every* byte that flows into your computer. Please take advantage of this. Don't be helpless.
