Thanks for posting the excerpt. Now I don’t have to buy the book to find out that it’s a compendium of fatuous urban legend bullshit. Vicious shooting up piss and shit! This is the kind of hogwash that gets passed around school yards, worse than the rep Alice Cooper had for biting off the heads of live chickens onstage when in actuality some fan inexplicably put one up there during a show and it scratched around for a bit — and that’s all.
I am greatly disappointed in R.U. Sirius. This makes all his other stories and anecdotes suspect.

Here’s my favorite; the one about __________ Its a recurring ditty about the band who’s path crosses yours accidentally (turned on to by some party friend). Within no time they’re all you’re listening to, tripping to, can’t get enough of. They grow even better, their shows are life changing. enjoyed by all for a few years; . INTENSE . youknow .
Then one of a couple things happpens; someone in the band pulls the old accidental overdose. Theres too many but one that comes to mind right now is Hoon (singer Blind Melon) dies of too much cocaine, in the back of the bus just before a gig no less. Fucking waste. Curt Nobrain, hendrix… the list we all know)

The other reoccuring bummer is that of the disappearance of one of your favorite bands. Then you hear someone somewhere ..”"whatever happened to ________ ________ , they used to come around here all the time. We all know it but try and forget the thouhgts but we eventually find out that all the drugs got to be too much and they imploded. They hit the scene again once they’re heads are back together. Only now the suck. What happened to their balls everyone wonders. Then you realize that the intensity of their music, ass kicking live shows that floored you damn proper. Was the result of their drug use. Even the times of being strungout, fueled song writing, ‘more ‘ was coming. “that’s what dude told me, right back”. What got made, once dude finally returns and eventuallly stays, is all legend , calassic
These guys suck now aand painfully fade away. (Lou reed, velvets, Bowie, stooges, Patti smith, chil peppers .same as it ever was

Boy, all of these make my one rocker drug story tame in comparison. A friend of mine was the concert reviewer for the now-defunct St. Louis Globe-Democrat. He once told me how he went into a Hardee's down the street from the old St. Louis Arena to get some dinner prior to a concert there; outside the Hardee's was a parked limo with driver. He went into the men's room, and as he washed his hands he heard a [sniff! sniff!] from a stall. A moment later out came a sheepish-looking Alex van Halen, who got into the limo and rode the one-block distance to the Arena for the performance.
